What Is the TrenchScore? How We Rate a Token

The TrenchScore rates any token from 0 to 100 across momentum, contract safety, community, holder health and market. Here's what it means and how to use it.

TRENCHSCORE RESEARCH··3 MIN READ

Every token we analyse gets a TrenchScore from 0 to 100. It answers one question: taking everything we can measure into account, how good does this token look right now? It's built for memecoin traders, so it cares about what they care about — whether a token is moving, whether it's safe, and whether the people behind the hype are real.

//The tiers

ScoreTierWhat it usually means
80+ImmaculateStrong across the board: moving, clean, well-distributed, real community
60–79SolidGood overall, with a few weaker areas worth reading about
40–59MidMixed signals — some real strengths, some real concerns
Below 40SketchySerious weaknesses or missing data. Proceed with real caution

//The five pillars

The score blends five areas. Each is scored on its own, and you can see every pillar's score on the token page.

Momentum

Is the token actually moving? Price action, trading activity and buy pressure across several timeframes, judged against how long the token has existed so new tokens with real traction get a fair shot. See what is momentum.

Contract safety

Can the contract hurt you? Honeypot simulation, mint and freeze authorities, ownership, upgradeability, taxes, blacklists, liquidity locks and more, depending on the chain. See how to spot a rug pull.

Community

Are real people behind it? Presence and size across X, Telegram and the web, plus public promotion signals — with expectations that grow as the token ages. See is a crypto community real?

Holder health

Who holds the supply? Concentration, dev holdings, insider networks and how broad the holder base is. See how to read top holders.

Market

Is the market structure sound? Liquidity depth and how it relates to the token's size and trading. See why liquidity matters.

//Missing data counts against a token

If we can't verify something — no socials, no audit available on that chain, no holder data — that part scores low rather than being skipped. A token has to show it's healthy to score well. That's deliberate: in memecoins, "we couldn't check" should never read as "it's fine".

//Confirmed scams don't get a pass

Some findings are so serious that no score should outweigh them: a failed sell simulation, active mint or freeze authority on a memecoin, hidden owners, extreme taxes and similar. These are marked as critical on the token page, and tokens with critical failures can never enter the Trench 100.

//What the score is not

  • Not a price prediction. A high score doesn't mean the price will go up.
  • Not a guarantee. Contracts, holders and communities change. A token can be fine at scan time and rugged an hour later.
  • Not financial advice. It's a research tool to help you rule tokens out faster.

//Why we don't publish the exact formula

We share what the score looks at and how the pillars fit together, but not the precise metrics, thresholds and weights inside each one. Publishing them would make the score easy to game: anyone could farm exactly the numbers we look for. Keeping the details private keeps the score honest.

//How to use it

  1. 01Use the score to triage — skip the Sketchy, look closer at the rest.
  2. 02Read the signals under the score; they tell you why.
  3. 03Open the score breakdown at the bottom of the token page to see each metric that went into it.
  4. 04New to the token page? Follow how to research any token with TrenchScore.
  5. 05Run the parts no score can see with the due diligence checklist.

Reports refresh automatically when they get old, and you can check any token by pasting its contract into the search bar.

//Frequently asked questions

What is a good TrenchScore?+

60 and above is 'Solid' and 80 and above is 'Immaculate'. Scores below 40 are 'Sketchy'. Always read the signals behind the score, not just the number.

How often is the TrenchScore updated?+

Tokens in the Trench 100 are rescanned every ranking run (every three hours). Other tokens are rescanned in the background when someone opens a report that has gone stale. Prices on token pages are always live.

Can a token with a high TrenchScore still rug?+

Yes. The score reflects what can be measured at scan time. Teams can still sell, liquidity locks can expire and communities can leave. Use the score as a filter, not a guarantee.

Educational content, not financial advice. Crypto assets are highly risky and most new tokens lose most of their value — always do your own research.
